FrontRing FAQ

What size lens filter diameter do I choose?

The lens filter diameter is determined by the size of the lens’s internal filter threading. Most lenses display the filter diameter on the inner ring or elsewhere on the lens. For any modern lens, you can find the front filter diameter listed under the SPECS on B&H. We also maintain a growing resource page for less common lenses.

The outer diameter (O.D.) of your FrontRing is a personal choice. If you're using screw-in front filters, we recommend the 80mm or 85mm O.D. rings, as they are compatible with common 77mm and 82mm filters. For drop-in filters with a matte box, the 95mm O.D. ring is compatible with popular matte boxes like the Tilta Mirage, Kondor Blue, and SmallRig.

The FrontRing is compatible with the CineLid, LensLid, and RingLid. The CineLid slips over the outer part of the ring, while the LensLid and RingLid screw into the internal threads. You can also stack the RingLid and CineLid for ultimate protection.
